Well, Roger Clemens was found Not Guilty today, after what Yahoo!Sports said was "...eight weeks, 46 witnesses, two dozing jurors and an estimated $2 million-$3 million spent in taxpayer money." And that was most likely just for the second trial.

Next up - Lance Armstrong and almost everyone who ever associated with him. How much more will be spent by USADA trying to prove he doped, and trying to get him banned from cycling and triathlon for life? Did he or didn't he? At this point, for some reason I really don't care. What's done is done, and let's move on. No matter what, Lance Armstrong's accomplishments are legendary. Could anyone else have done the same, with or without doping? I doubt it.

Why is it that some people just have to tear down others? It happens in sports and it happens in politics. No one is 100% perfect, and we shouldn't expect our role models to be either. I'm not advocating the use of performance enhancing substances, but what do we really gain from going after someone years later?

If you are interested, here is a link to the letter that was sent by USADA to Lance Armstrong, Johan Bruyneel and others. http://bit.ly/Penyee

Looks like a lot of reliance on "others" (all unnamed), some of whom may be jealous of or have a vendetta against a better athlete. As I read the letter, it appears that USADA is admitting it has been unable to locate any test samples that would have shown use or abuse of performance enhancing substances.

What will all this cost us taxpayers, and that's not even addressing how much it will cost the various respondents in legal fees. Is it worth it?
