"Has Title IX hurt men's sports, such as wrestling? The numbers might surprise you." espnW and ESPN The Magazine published an article on April 7 that purports to debunk the myths of Title IX. http://es.pn/Hoe9gG
The article seems to support the contention this writer has made for a number of years that the impact of adding women's sports is not the reason colleges have been dropping a number of the so-called "minor" sports such as men's swimming & diving, wrestling and gymnastics, despite the fact that these are Olympic sports. Instead, it's the ever-increasing money being spent on football and men's basketball that have lead to the demise of the minor sports in intercollegiate programs.
